Watermarking in Biometrics

Watermarking is discussed as possible means to enhance biometric systems. Application scenarios for the employment of watermarks as found in literature are critically discussed and analysed with respect to required watermark properties, possible attacks, and eventual (cryptographic) alternatives. We give examples of applying semi-fragile watermarks to embed iris templates for sample authentication, two-factor authentication, and improved matching accuracy.
