Přehled a historie polyalfabetických šifer

Přednáška se zabývá vznikem a vývojem polyalfabetických šifer a dále jejich přínosem a významem pro kryptologii. Mimo řady historických informací a souvislostí, je podán systematický a téměř úplný výklad jednotlivých typů polyalfabetických šifer (Trithemius, Vigenére, Beaufort, Gronsfeld, Beaufort-Sestri, ...). K tomu je použit jak původní "grafický jazyk" tak matematický popis francouze de Viaria.
Budeme se zabývat i použitím klíčů v těchto systémech. Popíšeme vývoj návrhu výběru šifrové abecedy od prostého "pořadí" (Trtheimiova Tabula Recta), přes různé verze periodických hesel, až po Cardanův revoluční objev autoklávu. Přednáška končí využitím zobecněného polyalfabetického systému využívajícího "nekonečný klíč", který vedl k důkazu existence absolutně bezpečného systému (Gilbert S. Vernam, C.E.Shannon).
Survey and History of Polyalphabetic Ciphers

The talk deals with the rise and evolution of poylalphabetic ciphers and also with their contribution and importance for cryptology. Beside a number of historical information and connections, a systematic and almost complete description of particular types of polyalphabetic ciphers (Trithemius, Vigenére, Beaufort, Gronsfeld, Beaufort-Sestri, ...) is given. An original "graphical language", as well as the mathematical description of Frenchman de Viaria is used.
We will also cover usage of keys in these schemes. The evolution of designs for cipher alphabet selection from trivial order (Trtheimiova Tabula Recta), various versions of periodic keys/passwords, to Cardan.s revolutionary invention of grille will be described. The talk will end up with the use of generalised polyalphabetic system with "infinite key" for the proof of existence of perfectly secure system (Gilbert S. Vernam, C.E.Shannon).
