Serge Vaudenay graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and received his PhD in computer sciences from the University of Paris 7 in 1995. He has been a full time researcher in the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research in France) until 1999 when he was elected Associate Professor in EPFL. He is working on communication system security. His main interest is on the security provided by cryptographic algorithms, either in breaking some or in making new ones. He contributed several times to the GSM security. His current interest is on making theoretical design criteria for making secure cryptographic systems.
